Community Training

Our Community Training program aims to enhance existing mental health resources on a grassroots level. It builds capacity for community mental wellness as a critical element of individual wellbeing, public health, and societal resilience.

We partner with some of the region’s mental health specialists residing and practicing abroad, matching them with local communities who lack access to specialized expertise. Our goal is to facilitate context-specific training that is minimally hindered by barriers of language, culture, access to resources, or geography. This strategy allows us to reach beneficiary communities regardless of whether they are in their own countries, in the diaspora, or in transition.

Working remotely from their current locations around the globe, the specialists we engage deliver a variety of courses to groups and individuals who are active on the ground and in areas of great need. We collaborate with local charities, community groups, religious entities, and other stakeholders where possible, to complement ongoing work and address their specific needs.

In the training we provide, community health workers and volunteers interact directly, in synchronous online sessions with a mental health expert who speaks their language, has intimate knowledge of their culture, shares their background, and understands their challenges.

This interaction brings specialist advice on mental health issues directly to community workers and volunteers. It allows them the ability and space to receive specific advice on the daily challenges they face.

Our Community Training program is a small but effective step towards bridging the global mental health gap. It contributes, even if in small ways, to a more equitable global distribution of access to knowledge in mental health.

Specialist Training

Our Specialist Training program benefits mental health professionals, and aspiring mental health professionals, who wish to pursue specialized training but do not have the resources to do so. Prioritizing practicing and aspiring specialists in areas of great need, we enable them to enhance their skills and knowledge through continuing education and specialized training courses. We also aim to support members of our beneficiary communities who wish to train in mental health fields through academic and professional qualification.

A major goal in this area is to partner with academic institutions to create a scholarship program for students from the region who wish to pursue academic training in fields of mental health. Equally, we liaise with professional mental health organizations to assist displaced practitioners in achieving required licensing in their new host countries.

We are also creating an online library for quality sources on mental health in the Arabic language, to be freely accessible to our trainees, especially those who have no access to specialist literature.

Supporting specialists in these ways contributes creatively to bridging the global gap in mental health. It generates possibilities for advanced skill acquisition and access to knowledge where they are not available.

Music Program

Our Music Program is the most imaginative of the four, at least in terms of content and collaborative design. It draws on a creative approach to social and cultural impact that crosses multiple boundaries. We work across disciplinary, cultural, geographic, linguistic, nationalistic, ethnic and religious divides to create spaces for coherence and affirmation.

We curate local programs in collaboration with varying constellations of specialists in fields such as cultural musicology, social and cultural anthropology, and the various approaches to music therapy, cognition, psychology and neuroscience. We design bespoke, tailor-made programs with goals that are defined in conversation with our partners on the ground.

We are open to working with partners across the globe who wish to implement music to enhance their programming for communal wellbeing.
